Unless you’ve been hiding in a box somewhere…you know that our world is going crazy. The question is, “What do we do?” For a start, may I suggest what King Jehoshaphat, one of the few godly kings of Judah did when his world went crazy.
In 2 Chronicles 20, we read that the Ammonites and Moabites, have gathered several other nations with them to destroy Judah! It was a massive army. Jehoshaphat’s response is seen in verses 3 through 6.
3 Then Jehoshaphat was afraid and set his face to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. 4 And Judah assembled to seek help from the LORD; from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD. 5 And Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court, 6 and said, "O LORD, God of our fathers, are you not God in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. In your hand are power and might, so that none is able to withstand you.
What did King Jehoshaphat do? He prayed! And he led his people to pray! The end of verse 12 is particularly powerful.
12 …For we are powerless against this great horde that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you."
What an attitude! What wisdom! That’s the response that I want to make in these days! How about you?
Before we do anything or say anything, and certainly instead of worrying and stressing, let’s turn to God and share our concerns with Him. Let’s put our eyes on Him. He is not up in heaven wringing His hands. He knows what is going on and He is in control.
And, if you struggle to trust Him, remember that He loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for us! Even when we don’t understand our circumstances, we can trust Him!
