Self-Consciousness

Over the past two weeks, in our Sunday am study, we looked at Self-Consciousness and our need to take the focus off ourselves and turn it to God. The goal of course is to be consistent. A great passage that helps with this is found in James 1:22-25. The point of verses 23-34 describe a person looking in a mirror, but then walking away without making the needed changes revealed by the mirror. In verse 25 we are reminded that - …the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

The word perseveres means to “remain beside something.”

POINT? We will not change unless we keep at it (remain beside) the right focus - a focus on a verse, a truth about God, instead of a focus on ourselves and our circumstances.
